Katherine Quach Marketing Management, minors in Environmental Sustainability, NYC Studies, and Advanced Business Analysis Macaulay Honors College at Baruch College, Spring 2024 graduate What inspired you to pick your current major? When I started college in 2020, I faced the question that all students are forced to confront at the young age of 18: “What am I going to pursue as a career?” I initially entered Baruch College as an accounting major, but I knew it wasn’t the right fit for me right away. While I love data analytics, organization, and critical thinking, I desire a career that incorporates those skills to innovate something new and inspire me to bring my creative ideas to life. The second I heard about a major in Marketing Management with a Digital Marketing track, it was the perfect combination of creative and analytical that concluded my search for a long-term major and career. How has being in the ARF WIDE Program affected your career path or university studies?Being in the ARF WIDE Program granted me a wonderful network with like-minded individuals who have big ambitions and strong skills. It pushes me to work even harder towards my career goals and academic endeavors. Receiving financial support has also allowed me to pursue opportunities without the concern of supporting myself through college. Tell us about your new position! What is your role and where is it? What will you be doing? My internship at Accenture gave me the ability to tap into the consulting industry and learn the day-to-day responsibilities of consultants. I worked with a client in the public sector to help with change management and business process redesign. It was a wonderful experience, as I met many amazing people and truly understood what it took to be a successful, well-rounded professional. If money were no object, what would your dream job be?If money was no object, my dream occupation would be owning a small business or nonprofit that emphasized environmental sustainability awareness and education through engaging programs for all ages. Where do you see yourself in five to ten years? In five to ten years, I see myself becoming a manager or director at a company. I would find a work-life balance that will allow me to start my own family and provide for them. What is your favorite hobby? Why do you enjoy it?My favorite hobby is thrifting. I love finding unique pieces all around New York City and curating an outfit out of the mismatched clothing I find. It gives me the opportunity to be creative and feel good about myself through self-expression. What is something you would tell your younger self?I would tell my younger self that hard work pays off. I struggled throughout elementary and middle school because I didn’t believe that studying and participating would benefit me. As I near the end of my college career, I’ve pushed myself to step outside of my comfort zone every day, which granted me so many opportunities and possibilities that I never knew existed for an introvert like me. |
