Pharma Council

Council Objectives

The Pharma Council’s focus is to identify the advertising and research challenges in the Pharma industry and investigate effective strategies for contending with them. It is particularly interested in exploring approaches for extending the testing and marketing of pharma products to include under-served or niche populations and what the patient journey will look like in five years with respect to communications, touchpoints, and value drivers. Through exciting events, original research, and engaging discussion, the Pharma Council brings together thought leaders from across the Pharma Industry to contend with its most pressing challenges and produce practical insights to push it forward.
Additionally, the ARF Pharma Council’s Healthcare Community, offers a dynamic space for marketing and advertising professionals to engage with Council Committee members and stay on the cutting edge of Pharma industry research and news.

Pharma Council Spotlight Series

Produced by the ARF Pharma Council, FutureHealth is an on-demand series of webcasts and podcasts on “Trends in the Patient Journey: What to Expect in the Next 3-5 Years.” In this series, which launched in 2021, the Council explores the future patient journey through the lens of experts and companies working on the cutting edge of current trends in health care marketing and delivery. Every quarter, the Pharma Council trains a spotlight on a particular topic related to the patient journey. Each Spotlight topic is approached with multiple formats, including overview podcasts (which can be found on the FutureHealth podcast page), brief articles containing news and research related to a salient aspect of the topic, and infographics. PHARMA COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS


    Inclusion by Design in Pharma Research and Marketing


    Following up on its podcast episode on “Inclusive Futures of Humancare,” this event focused on the importance of inclusiveness in pharma research and marketing with respect to both demographic characteristics and health conditions. The four speakers discussed representation in pharma research, how to recruit “under-represented and difficult-to-engage” segments for qualitative research, how to make quantitative pharma research more inclusive, and the benefits of ads delivering “elevated portrayals of People of Color.” ACCESS EVENT CONTENT

    The Evolution of the Patient Journey — Overcoming Vaccine Hesitancy


    The Pharma Council’s first event focused on COVID vaccination acceptance and hesitancy from several angles — public health, social media conversations, qualitative and quantitative research around COVID vaccination, and behavioral science experiments.
