Young Pros Spotlight
Madison Zinsenheim
What is your role / current company?
Director, Partner Success, OpenWeb
When did you join the ARF Young Pros? Fall 2015
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
Within the last year at my current company, I’ve been able to assist in building out a business case for developing our data strategy and taking it to full commercialization as a new source of revenue.
What is your biggest professional challenge?
Trying to improve the diversity within the industry. I can only directly impact my organization, and I strive to ensure there are different levels of diversity across the company so that there are multiple perspectives on key business decisions. Within the industry, I only hope to be a resource, or more so a mentor to those who are trying to carve a path for themselves to make a significant impact.
How has being an ARF Young Pro member impacted your career?
Numerous ways; from the friendships, to knowledge and unexpected interests in different topics like data modeling and programmatic advertising. I’ve never left an event without having an understanding of something I knew nothing about prior and for that I’m always thankful.
What’s your favorite Young Pros event that you’ve been to?
It’s been a while, but one of the first events I went to was a full day event held at Google in NYC. I just remember one of the speakers quoted a Malcolm Gladwell book and after that I was obsessed and read all of his books, they’re so fascinating.
When researching a topic you know nothing about, how do you get started?
Googling the topic and reading as many various resources as possible. Then I like to reach out to industry friends to hear their perspective on those topics, or ask a mentor – sometimes they’re the best person to go to and can connect you with individuals who have that unique experience or provide a knowledge source you’ve never heard of.
What’s an example of a company/ brand that you think is doing a great job?
Melissa Wood Health. Hands down, the best. I started following her a few years ago and to see how much her business has grown is so inspiring. She’s authentic, down to earth, and not afraid to discuss her daily life and struggles as an individual, mother and creator. Melissa is also extremely humble (she recognizes the advantages she has over most people), yet uses her platform for good and highlights resources for highly debated topics. Her workouts were always through an online platform, but since the pandemic, it has grown substantially as people look for an at home alternative with minimal equipment. The flows are short but EFFECTIVE and the best part is it’s super affordable.
What is your favorite show/program?
At the moment, I’m on a Scrubs binge, because why not re-watch a classi?. If we’re talking newer shows, I just finished Queen’s Gambit and thought it was exceptional. My boyfriend and I have been playing chess nonstop since we finished the series, and it’s been fun to feel like Beth and kick his butt
What is your favorite restaurant in your city?
Kotobuki – or any sushi restaurant really, but Kotobuki is my go-to every time.
What’s your dream job? (If money was no object, what would you do?)
Travel the world as a blogger or flip houses- my guilty pleasure is looking at home décor and design sites.
