The process of forming, storing and retrieving memory, both in the brain and artificially with computers or data bases. How we remember things is based upon a complex brain structure that processes information of all types, including sensory, emotional and cognitive responses to experiences. Part of the “structure” of memory refers to the different types which are classified as “short term” (e.g. what you had for breakfast this morning) “long term” (e.g. your favorite teacher in high school) and “sensory” (how sand feels on your toes).
