The first cohort of WIDE Scholars have graduated, and they are beginning to embark on their careers. Take a moment to get to know a little more about our future workforce.
Chelsea Wells Marketing & Management University of Wisconsin Madison – Senior What inspired you to pick your current major? In high school, I started my own photography business in my hometown. My love for business blossomed, and I fell in love with the creative aspects of running a business. I chose my majors because I felt that they would open the door for me to do similar work at a larger company in the future. How has being in the ARF WIDE Program affected your career path or university studies?Joining the program as a Sophomore, I had little idea of how to put my best foot forward as I entered the corporate world. Through the various workshops available to me as well as one-on-one help from my mentor, I was able to confidently start my job search process and better understand what I was looking for in a company. Tell us about your new position! What is your role and where is it? What will you be doing? After my graduation in May, I will be working full-time with Proctor & Gamble as a Brand Manager at the company’s headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. If money were no object, what would your dream job be?If money was no object, I would be a full-time dancer. I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old and always wanted to be a ballerina when I was younger. Where do you see yourself in five to ten years? In 5-10 years, I hope to still be learning and growing as much as possible. I would love to be in a position where I can help incoming students in ways similar to the help I have received. What is your favorite hobby? Why do you enjoy it?Photography is my favorite hobby! It gives me a means to express myself freely through the images I choose to capture and share. What is something you would tell your younger self?I’d tell my younger self not to be afraid of the unknown because incredible things come to those who take chances and put themselves out there. |
