Aaron Her Consumer Behavior University of Wisconsin – Madison, Senior What inspired you to pick your current major?During Covid I started my own business where I purchased sports cards products, resold them for 5-10x the retail value, and shipped them nationwide. Demand was so high that these products would sell out the same day. Business was going so well that at one point I had 4 people working for me. This was my first real experience in business, and I fell in love with all of the different components of business. How has being in the ARF WIDE Program affected your career path or university studies? The ARF WIDE Program has been a catalyst in building me into the best version of myself. The program has given me access to amazing resources such as workshops and professional mentors that help give me a sense of direction. The mentorship in this program is amazing, I have received assistance with interview preparation, resume reviews, and so much more. Tell us about your new position! What is your role and where is it? What will you be doing?I just completed my internship with Kohl’s Corporate as a Costing Analyst (CA) intern. As a CA intern I worked with my team to find ways to reduce costs and maximize profits. I also created a predictive analytics tool that would give the expected future costs for specific components in our operations. If money were no object, what would your dream job be?I would love to be a food blogger. I love exploring new cultures through foods and learning the cultural significance of that dish. Being able to share that knowledge with the world while eating delicious foods would be a dream come true! Where do you see yourself in five to ten years? In 5-10 years, I would like to see myself working in marketing or analytics for a tech company. Tech is truly unique, and you need the ability to adapt quickly. I believe working in tech will not only be fun but will also be a transformative experience for me, shaping me to become the best version of myself! I am so excited to see what the future holds for me. What is your favorite hobby? Why do you enjoy it?Playing the guitar would definitely be my favorite hobby. Having to balance work, personal life, and school gets stressful. The guitar brings peace to my mind and is a way I relieve stress! What is something you would tell your younger self?I would tell my younger self to remain positive, the only way growth can happen is through failure. Every single failure or rejection I’ve gone through has shaped me to become the person I am today. Every failed interview is an interview closer to be getting that job/internship! |
