Brian Hughes - Director, Data Communications at Nielsen

Brian joined Nielsen in 2024 as Director of Data Communications, and today he helps shape the external messaging around the company’s audience measurement capabilities. In addition to publishing insights articles showcasing important viewing trends, he also consults on how best to serve advertiser and agency clients. Brian previously led the Audience Intelligence Practice for MAGNA, where he was tasked with making sense of consumers’ media habits in a fragmented landscape and infusing that knowledge into MAGNA’s go-to-market strategy. Brian worked within IPG for nearly 24 years, joining MAGNA when television research for all IPG Media brands agencies was consolidated there in 2004. He grew with the company, eventually assuming the role of Executive Vice President. With MAGNA, Brian was an essential contributor in shaping the television and programming analysis operation and later had a major hand in his groups’ expansion into other media and the world of holistic video. He has a zest for the written word and applies his literary talents to marketing-related articles and reports.
