This position will provide practical experience in a real-world environment with respect to the day-to-day responsibilities of a market research professional at GfK. Creative Excellence INTERN | Virtual

The primary role will be to assist in a variety of projects to prepare broad learning and thought leadership on the topic of advertising, brands and communication. Ipsos is the world’s third largest market research company. This position sits within 1 of 18 different departments, the Creative Excellence group, which uses consumer feedback to assist clients at all phases of creative development, from early insight generation to measuring impact in market. The primary source for this will be Ipsos survey data, but will also include many different external sources.

The primary role will be to assist in a variety of projects to prepare broad learning and thought leadership on the topic of advertising, brands and communication. The primary source for this will be Ipsos survey data, but will also include many different external sources. Specific tasks could include:

  • Linking different datasets from within Ipsos and externally to validate the results from our predictive metrics
  • Analyzing industry data, such as famous Advertising Award winners and entrants, to see patterns that lead to success.
  • Identifying and and coding creative styles (e.g. humorous ads vs. dramatic ads vs. including a celebrity) across large numbers of commercials, with the end result being to study how differences can impact overall performance.

Other Skills:

  • High interest in advertising, communication, marketing and brands
  • Subject-matter knowledge on advertising. The latest trends, language, and hot topics in the industry.
  • Data analysis - the ability to tell a story from a set of quantitative data. The skill to organize large datasets is an added bonus.
  • Copywriting and the ability to write up clear, simple, impactful findings.
  • Design skills, primarily in Powerpoint, but any and all creative skills are a bonus

Research and Development INTERN | Virtual

NCSolutions combines Nielsen’s rich media and purchase information with Catalina Marketing’s expansive shopper data. As an analyst, you will use an industry-leading dataset to help CPG marketers optimize media schedules and quantify advertising effectiveness. The R&D team at NCS is focused heavily on internal clients and capabilities research to improve existing methodologies and develop new products, as well as to execute custom research for external clients. All of this tends to be within the Marketing ROI and or audience targeting space.

As an R&D Intern, your objective is to help a) drive the company’s constant effort to create new products and improve existing offerings, and b)drive client value by assisting in the analyses and preparation of highly custom client deliverables. To do this, you will have a set of powerful analytical tools, thorough job training, a supportive peer network and experienced manager to help guide your work. You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of NCS’s data, products and capabilities, as well as all steps of the analysis process and make modifications as needed to fulfill internal and/or external client needs.

This is an hourly position for approximately ~20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute internally to the ideation, development, and validation of new, and continuous improvement of existing analytical products and processes
  • Contribute to custom client deliverables and develop integrated analyses using proprietary tools and processes
  • Perform due-diligence on analysis results for accuracy and relevancy
  • Provide insights in response to client inquiries and deliver high level of service
  • Become a subject matter expert on NCS methodology and capabilities
  • Participate in cross functional teams/projects
  • Participate in knowledge sharing across the organization

Experience: 1 year experience in a research analytics role OR 1 or 2 terms in internships in a research role

Qualifications:

  • Applicable bachelor’s degree in STEM, business or ability to demonstrate equivalent skillset (will accept Senior in college working towards bachelor’s degree)
  • Strong quantitative skills and statistical knowledge; experience working with statistical software (R, SAS, etc) a plus
  • Ability to learn and apply new analytical methods and tools
  • Curiosity, critical mind, and self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to work under time pressure

This is a 10 week paid internship. Tentative start date of June 1, subject to candidate's academic calendar.

Responsibilities:
- Be knowledgeable about WARC content, keeping abreast of content substance so that you can talk with understanding about what is new and interesting - use WARC like a living textbook
- Quickly understand WARC’s product suite and be able to identify the value they bring to WARC’s clients
- Supporting the marketing team on upcoming campaigns and learn about measuring marketing campaign success
- Researching on WARC to support client requests
- Learning the account management process from the account management team
- Assisting the new business/sales team in recognizing and reaching out to potential leads
- Attending interviews and meetings with the editorial team to learn more about the journalistic-side of marketing
- Learning about key marketing themes, thought leadership and connecting with the top advertising agencies, brands and media owners
- In addition to the daily responsibilities, this intern will complete a final project by the end of their time with WARC.
