  • Video-on-demand (VOD) programming continues to grow as an advertising medium, according to new figures from Canoe. Ads served by Canoe in VOD programming registered 6.99 billion impressions in 4Q17, up 37% versus a year ago. For the full year, there were 23.33 billion ad impressions up 30% from 2016. Canoe ran 7,822 campaigns in 2017, up 35% from 2016. Broadcasting & Cable.
  • According to a survey by NPR and Edison Research, 16% of Americans now own a smart speaker. That’s up 128% from January, 2017. Amazon’s Echo speakers are still in the lead, the report says, as 11% now own an Amazon Alexa device and 4% have a Google Home product. TechCrunch.
